Does Axonal Degeneration Depend on Demyelination in Chronic Multiple Sclerosis? (P1.191)

CONCLUSIONS: Whilst the density of CST axons was reduced compared to controls, no association was detected between demyelination and axonal loss in the SC of pwMS. This data suggests other factors may drive CST degeneration, perhaps (supraspinal) demyelination affecting the brain. Further studies are focussing on investigating this issue.
