CONCLUSIONS:The brainstem manifestations of NMO can be varied and can occur at any stage of the disease. As these patients demonstrate, the location of an inflammatory demyelinating lesion is predictable given the differential expression of AQP4 in the brainstem. Therefore, their presence should prompt evaluation for NMO. Most importantly, accurate and early diagnosis is paramount in administering appropriate therapy in order to prevent disease progression and disability.Disclosure: Dr. Amjad has nothing to disclose.
